Welcome to Wander Through Time

Wander Through Time grew out of my longtime interest in visiting historic homes, grand mansions, iconic estates, and other remarkable destinations across the country.

Like many travelers, I would research a property before visiting, read the official descriptions, and browse photographs ahead of time. Yet even after doing all of that, I often felt like I still did not really understand what the experience would be like once I arrived.

Enjoying the Guest House at Graceland during my visit to Memphis. Exploring the surrounding exhibits and visitor experiences is often just as rewarding as touring the historic property itself.

I wanted to know more than just dates, architectural styles, and famous names. I wanted to understand the atmosphere of a place, how much time visitors should realistically plan for, what details stood out during the tour, and why certain destinations continued leaving such a lasting impression long afterward.

Over the years, I have visited historic homes, presidential residences, grand hotels, museums, and landmark destinations throughout the United States. Some experiences were exactly what I expected. Others surprised me in ways no guidebook ever mentioned. Those visits eventually inspired the creation of Wander Through Time.

This site is designed to help readers experience historic destinations in a more thoughtful and practical way—not simply as tourist attractions, but as places connected to real people, stories, and moments in history.

Alongside the history itself, I also focus on the details many visitors are actually searching for while planning a trip: what a property feels like in person, how to prepare realistically, what to expect during a tour, and what nearby experiences may help round out a visit.
