About Wander Through Time

Welcome to Wander Through Time — a site devoted to exploring the rich history, architecture, and untold stories behind America’s most fascinating historic homes, grand mansions, and hidden landmarks.

Whether you’re a history enthusiast, architecture lover, or cultural traveler in search of meaningful destinations, you’ll find curated guides designed to help you experience history in immersive, inspiring ways.

What You’ll Discover Here

We go beyond the brochure and dive deeper with a three-part article format:

  • Main Property Articles – Overviews of estates and landmarks, including history, significance, and standout features.
  • Deep Dives – Narrative-style explorations into the stories, secrets, and people that shaped these places.
  • Visit & Tour Guides – Practical travel resources including ticket info, accessibility, nearby attractions, and seasonal tips.

We highlight both iconic landmarks like Graceland and the Biltmore Estate, and lesser-known treasures that deserve more attention. If you’re the kind of traveler who enjoys stepping off the beaten path and into the past, you’re in the right place.

Why This Site Exists

Wander Through Time began with a simple idea: that historic places are not just pretty buildings—they’re storytellers. Every estate, home, and landmark has a voice. Our mission is to help you hear it.

Sylvia Paye
Founder of Wander Through Time

I’m a lifelong lover of historic places—whether it’s a grand Southern mansion, a tucked-away estate, or a centuries-old palace abroad. Over the years, I’ve visited remarkable homes and landmarks across the U.S., as well as unforgettable sites in London, Thailand, Vietnam, and Russia. Each place has left its mark on me.

Now, at 82 years old and legally blind, I’ve decided there’s no better time to explore this passion more deeply—and to share it with others. Wander Through Time is my way of bringing historic estates and landmarks to life through storytelling, research, and accessible travel guides. My goal is to help others—whether they’re fellow travelers, history buffs, or curious explorers—discover the beauty and cultural richness of these incredible places.

I hope this site inspires readers to slow down, look closer, and include historic sites in their travel plans, whether they’re locals or world travelers. I’m proud to call sunny Florida home, but my heart is always wandering through time.
